Interesting sharp cheese

This was fun to try but not special. Did not wow us for taste and was hard to slice for serving.

Gouda to the very last bite!

Excellent with dried pear or roasted figs, and a good Amontillado sherry. Now a family favourite.

Just a lovely, mello cheese. A new favourite.

Delicious, always one of the first to go from the cheese plate

Picobello Cheese

The Facts

Country: Italy
Milk Type: pasteurized Cow
Age: 10-12 Months

Tasting Notes:

Part of the Gouda family yet after the first bite, you realize this isn’t your ordinary Gouda. Picobello Cheese is a Dutch cheese with an Italian twist. Sweet, caramel flavours of traditional aged Gouda and nutty, salty crystallization you would find in a good aged Reggiano.

There is so much character in this cheese, it appeals to nearly all cheese lovers. Under the thick layer of wax, reveals a wonderful yellow/orange paste. Firm but not overly dry like 3 or 4 year old Goudas, it can be dug into with a butter knife. The complex, nutty flavour of roasted nuts and brown butter is a rich and savoury experience.

Pair with a Pinot Noir.
