Robust flavour

Looks interesting right out of the package. The grapeskin coating adds color and a nice grape flavour to this somewhat greyish looking cheese. It has a reasonably strong tang so might appeal to aged cheddar kind of people. It would pair well with port or maybe beer as opposed to wine. I will add it to my long list of cheese to enjoy with friends.

Occelli al Barolo Cheese

The Facts

Country: Italy
Milk Type: Pasteurized Cow & Sheep Blend
Age: 7 Months +

Tasting Notes:

Occelli al Barolo Cheese is yet another decadent and beautiful cheese from Beppino Occelli, from Piedmont, Italy.

As a gold medal winner at the World Cheese Awards, this wine soaked "drunken" cheese is a must try!

After at least 5 months of ageing in the cellars, the cheese is brought over to the vineyards. There it is coated in the remaining pressed grapes used to make Barolo wine, and is further refined for 2 months.

The texture is wonderfully soft and flaky, with creamy, buttery, sweet, and sharp flavours. The taste of wine runs throughout, as it has seeped its way into the cracks of the cheese.

Another delicious and beautiful cheese for the cheese board!

Pair with Chianti, Amarone.

Our cheese mongers hand cut every cheese to order. We will always try to cut the exact weight ordered, however your piece might be slightly over or under the amount listed. But please know that we cut it freshly and specifically for you.

If you order several cheeses, we will usually make up for shortcomings on weight, if any, on the other cheeses ordered.

All cheeses are wrapped in special cheese paper and sealed to preserve freshness during transit.

Every order includes all the necessary thermal packaging and ice packs required for current weather conditions. Our main focus is getting the freshest product delivered to your door.
